Kahit hindi ako babae, bumili ako ng "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing". Me kopya kasi ang team mate ko, at mukhang di nya ako balak pahiramin (joke!). Hindi ko pa nasisimulan basahin kasi tinatapos ko pa ang mga poetry book na ipinahiram ni Xam sa akin (maraming salamat!). Ang galing ni Ted Kooser sa kanyang Delights and Shadows! Coolness!

"Boxed" exhibit Statement
Think Manny Pacquiao and boxing. Think Jack in the box. Think boxer shorts.
Think out of the box.
No, wait, think the box itself & back into the box, detox the self of all need to find life outside the box because there is nothing else beyond. Should there be something, it is but a larger box—the cubed simulations of an endless series of Russian dolls, replicas of a replica, a continuous opening & closing of possibilities.

BOXED is all about balance, equilibrium, respect for creative space irrespective of field or discipline.
Gathering artists from & with(in) different backgrounds, BOXED becomes a gesture toward Wagner's dream of the Gesamtkunstwerk—the total artwork—which fuses into one mythology all the many, divided arts that for ages have yearned for wholeness. The exhibit henceforth is not so much the exhibition of multiple creations but the act of creation itself—or at least a simulation of the act of creation: the writing of a singular mythology that contains all perceived and unperceived reality. Jewel in the lotus. The universe in a box.
Open the box and all six sides fall into place to form a cross. Think box and think salvation, the paradigm of redemption. Does it surprise you that the square's four points pertain exactly to the Tetragrammaton, the four sacred letters that signify the unpronounceable name of God?
No point in thinking you can think out of the box. There is space for exploration. Become the box.

I'm having difficulty opening a checking account. Nakausap ko last week ung branch manager ng Security Bank and she assured me na ang requirements lang ay ang mga sumusunod: 2 valid IDs, 1x1 picture, tsaka 5,000 na pag-open ng account. I should have grabbed the chance na mag-open ng account that day, kasi pagbalik ko kahapon iba na ang policy: required na at least 6 months na depositor ka ng bangko before ka i-endorse for a checking account.
Pero para saan ba ang checking account na aking minimithi? Balak na kasi naming lumipat ng apartment. Required na post-dated check ang pambayad ng upa. Ayun, kailangan talagang mag-open ako ng checking account.
I want the apartment. Na-promise ko na sa parents ko ung apartment na yun. Yes, I can look for another apartment na hindi post-dated check ang pambayad ng upa, pero...
I'll go bank-hopping this Monday. Wish me luck.

Dad is back! OK na daw siya, masigla na uli. Salamat sa mga nanalangin for his recovery. Sana tuloy-tuloy na. Babalik kami sa doctor niya this May 31. Sana fully-recovered na siya.

I'm currently reading Matthew Pearl's "Poe Shadow". The book is about the mystery of Edgar Allan Poe's death. Read on:
"On October 3, 1849, Poe was found on the streets of Baltimore delirious and "in great distress, and... in need of immediate assistance," according to the friend who found him, Dr. E. Snodgrass. He was taken to the Washington College Hospital, where he died early on the morning of October 7. Poe was never coherent long enough to explain how he came to be in his dire condition, and, oddly, was wearing clothes that were not his own. Poe is said to have repeatedly called out the name "Reynolds" on the night before his death. Some sources say Poe's final words were "Lord help my poor soul". Poe suffered from bouts of depression and madness, and he may have attempted suicide in 1848.
Poe finally died on Sunday, October 7, 1849 at 5:00 in the morning. The precise cause of Poe's death is disputed and has aroused great controversy."
